Yoga Therapy in Minneapolis, MN - Mindful Healing for Body and Mind

Why Yoga Therapy?

I really connected with the deep breath and body work Jennifer gently uses in her practice. Her lovely, cozy yoga room felt sacred and Jennifer’s demeanor made me feel like I was in a safe cocoon.
— Karen Cooke

A yoga therapy session gives clients an opportunity to take time from the business of the outer world to explore the workings of the inner world. In a traditional hatha yoga class students are guided to join breath and body in asana in order to meet themselves in the present moment. In a yoga therapy session we go beyond the classroom and explore what is coming up in each posture. The client will explain sensations, images and emotions that are present in asana and follow them with the next posture and observation. A yoga therapy session begins with an intake and ends with a meditation and integration.

Yoga Therapy sessions can be hands on and passive, or self-directed. In each co-created session I move clients through the postures using hands on/off assist to find their edge.

A yoga therapy session works incredibly well in conjunction with conventional talk therapy because clients are able to hold an intention for the session but experience it through the body rather than the mind. Additionally the body holds and shares wisdom offering a new perspective and connection to spirit.
